Join Us for the Women/Mother's Parade & Festival 2025!

The Women's Legacy Parade is Winston-Salem's first and only Women's Parade. The parade and festival is a family friendly event with marching bands, live music, food trucks, give aways, and more

When is the actual Parade?

The Women's Legacy Parade will be held on Saturday May 3, 2025.

Please Note: The Women's Parade has been moved from March 1st to May 3rd. The Legacy Foundation for Women wants to ensure that our citywide women's celebration is the absolute best and the month of May is a great time for an outdoor event. The Women/Mother's Day Parade will be held on May 3, 2025 in celebration of Women and Moms! 

When & Where is the Festival?

The festival begins at the end of the parade at Corpening Plaza Park after the parade. The festival is a family fun event to celebrate women and moms in the community on the city stage with live music, food trucks, give aways, and family fun. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy event. The festival ends at 5:00pm.

What is the purpose of the parade?

The purpose of the parade is to celebrate Women and Mother's Day in our community.

Route

The parade route starts at the intersection of Fourth Street and Broad Street and continues down Fourth Street. The parade turns left on Liberty Street and ends at Corpening Plaza Park for the festival.

Entry Fee & Registration

All participants must complete a registration form and pay an entry fee. The Entry Fee for the Women's Parade is $100.00. The deadline for registration is April 27th.

How can my company become the Grand Marshal of the Parade?

The Grand Marshal of the parade is usually a person, business, or organization of note who rides in front of the parade as an honor for their support and contribution to the Women's Legacy Parade. The Grand Marshal of the parade is selected yearly. The Grand Marshal contribution is a minimum of $7,000.00 donation support or equal support  to the Legacy Foundation for Women for the specific purchase of our local police officers and service workers that are on duty for the women/mother's day parade. This is our way of saying thank you for keeping our community and the Women's Legacy Parade safe for all attendees and participants. Parade Rules

  • Line-up begins at 11:30 am and the parade will begin promptly at 1:00pm.
  •  Entries must be present by 12:30 am to participate--NO EXCEPTIONS
  •  All vehicles and floats must be decorated.
  • The Women's Legacy Parade is proud to partner with WSFCS, Wake Forest, and WSSU Bands. There is NO Fee for Local Bands or Student Groups to participate.
  •  Only parade participants are allowed in the staging area.
  •  Please keep at least 40 Feet (4 Car Lengths) between entries on the parade route, keep distance, and do not stop.
  •  NO Possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted.
  •  The parade committee reserves the right to prohibit costumes, banners, flags, signs, logos or any other props or materials it deems inappropriate.
  • All walking units must continue moving forward during the parade. Once you approach the stage you will have a 90 second performance time. After 90 seconds you will be asked to move along whether your performance is done or not. Failure to comply, will result in being excluded from participating in future parades.
  • Go-carts, skateboards, bicycle riders must wear helmets.
  • All motor vehicles or trailers, motorcycles & mopeds must have current tags and appropriate insurance coverage.
  •  Participants riding on floats, vehicles or any moving entry may not get off or on once the entry begins moving. Participants are either on or off the entry for the entire period of the parade.
  •   Only participants/groups who have been issued a parade number may march in the parade.
  •  In the event of an emergency on the parade route, all participants are asked to move to the right side of the street (southbound lane) to allow emergency services to pass in the left (northbound) lane.
  • All entries with animals are responsible for cleaning up after their animals in the staging area, along the parade route and properly disposing of all animal waste
  • Floats cannot exceed 13 feet in height or 16 feet in width.
  • A fire extinguisher must be on board each float/vehicle
  • NO Political Signs or Hate Speech allowed ''. Please Note: The parade is NOT a Rally.

  •  At the end of the Parade, DO NOT STOP at the intersection; please keep going to your vehicles/parking and enjoy the afternoon downtown!
  •  THE PARADE WILL GO ON RAIN, SHINE, OR SNOW. It may be cold. Please be prepared.
  •  DISCLAIMER: The Parade Committee reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove any and all individuals, groups, vehicles, floats, motorcycles, or participants of any kind from entering or continuing along the Parade route for any reason, including but not limited to, safety, perceived condition, failure to comply with Parade Staff instructions, any action(s) that may cause a delay in the Parade, and/or any violation of the rules and regulations set out in this document.
  • The Parade Committee will continue to monitor CDC and NC COVID guidelines and make appropriate modifications as needed, up to and including cancellation of the parade if necessary.

Where Can I Get a Float?

Recommended Float Companies: The parade entry fee is separate from the float company fees. Participates are required to obtain their own individual floats direct from the company.

We are currently accepting Resources Providers for the Women's/Mother's Day Festival. There is NO Fee to become a Resource Provider for the event. However, there are limited spaces available. 

Provider Booths will be located at Corpening Plaza Park during the festival from 1:00pm-5:00pm. 

This festival is designed to provide FREE Resources for women and moms in the community. If you provide a service or have a business that you would like the community to know about, then this is the place to be. During the event, providers will share information and free resources to women and families. The festival begins at 1:00 and providers can begin set-up as early as 11:30. The festival ends at 5:00pm. All Providers must provide their own table and tent topper (Only toppers tents are allowed, no tents with sides.)

Please Note: The Legacy Foundation for Women must approve all resource providers. The Legacy Foundation for will select a limited number of providers each year for the festival. Once you have submitted the application, you will receive a response from the Legacy Foundation with 48 hours after submission.
